Google: Gmail data has been restored
Google has issued a statement saying that it has successfully restored all data from its tapes and is processing the information. Google spokeswoman Jessica Kositz said access should be restored to most users in a matter of hours and that the best thing for those still waiting for access is to keep checking Google's status dashboards.
Kositz said that users with larger amounts of data in their mailboxes could have to wait longer and that the company will issue a full incident report within about 48 hours.
Thousands of Gmail users to lost access to their e-mail on Monday after a storage software update went awry. Google had to go to its physical backup tapes to fully restore users' data.
