iPad 2: Will Steve Jobs take the stage?
Over at All Things Digital, Kara Swisher reports that several sources have confirmed to her that Apple chief executive Steve Jobs is "definitely considering" an appearance at Apple's iPad 2 event on Wednesday.
That's about as on-the-fence as someone can get, but Jobs has been seen at dinner with the president and on Apple's campus since he stepped down from day-to-day operations in January.
"If he decides to make another outing tomorrow, it is certainly with the knowledge that everyone will be trying to figure out his health from a stage appearance," Swisher wrote, adding that she hopes the presentation can remain focused on the product.
Techland echoes Swisher's concerns, saying that a Jobs cameo is a "bad idea" that will only serve to distract from the announcement.
What do you think? Are you hoping to see Jobs at the iPad2 announcement? Or do you think he may be too much of a distraction?

I agree that Steve's appearance, if he in any way looks thinner, or otherwise ill, will be a distraction. Let Phil Schiller, Tim Cook, and Jonathan Ives roll this thing out. If Jobs makes an appearance it would be better via teleconference, though that will feed speculation. Jobs rehearses his presentations like an actor preparing for a theater part. In fact these roll-outs are theater. Very important theater.
