Eye Opener: Thanksgiving edition

Happy Wednesday! By the time you read this, Mr. and Mrs. Federal Eye will be on their way out of the country for a brief Thanksgiving Weekend visit to his overseas relatives.
And if you're a non-essential federal employee you might get to leave work early today!
If you're preparing a Thanksgiving feast, make sure to follow the Food Safety and Inspection Service's Twitter feed @usdafoodsafety, which will continue to provide Turkey-themed tweets through Friday. Other turkey tips will appear if you follow the #turkeytweets hashtag. (A holiday H/t to Post alum Kim O'Donnel.)
The agency's "Ask Karen" automated response system will also provide tips on food safety for the holiday.
If you prefer the phone, the Agriculture Department's Meat and Poultry Hotline is also available on Thanksgiving Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET in English and Spanish. Call 888-674-6854 with your turkey queries.
Here's hoping you enjoy a delicious, relaxing Thanksgiving weekend with friends, family, co-workers or perfect strangers. Blogging resumes on Monday!
