Suspicious package near Treasury investigated

Authorities responded near the Treasury building in Northwest Washington early Thursday after a woman reportedly dropped off a suspicious package, U.S. Secret Service officials said.
A package was found at about 12:30 a.m. near the building at 15th and F streets. Uniformed Secret Service officials called in D.C. police who responded with hazmat and bomb squad investigators, but nothing harmful was found, said Secret Service spokesman Max Milien.
Authorities interviewed a woman who reportedly may have left the package. They found nothing hazardous and cleared the scene.
