Attorney General Holder to speak at funerals for slain U.S. Marshal, ICE agent

By Ed O'Keefe

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. plans to attend and speak at the funerals of a deputy U.S. Marshal and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent killed in the line of duty last week.

Armed gunmen killed ICE Special Agent Jaime Zapata last Tuesday as he drove back to Mexico City from a meeting with fellow agents in the north. Fellow agent Victor Avila was also wounded and transferred to a Houston hospital.

The next day, Deputy U.S. Marshal Derek Hotsinpiller was killed as he tried serving a search warrant in Elkins, W. Va. Fellow deputies Alex Neville and Fred Frederick were also injured.

Hotsinpiller's funeral is scheduled for Monday in Bridgeport, W. Va. Zapata's services are scheduled for Tuesday morning in Brownsville, Texas.

As colleague Jerry Markon reports in Monday's Post, the unrelated killings come as the federal government takes on a bigger role in fighting violent crimes. Federal-state task forces on violent crime have multiplied since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, meaning federal agents are in closer contact with dangerous criminals. The government also continues to pour resources into fighting drug trafficking and other crimes along the border with Mexico and increasingly in Central America.

Across the country, about 160 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2010, a nearly 40 percent jump from the year before, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Sixty-one officers were killed by gunfire last year, up from 40 in 2008, the group said.

If I were in those families, neither Holder, nor his boss Odumbo would get within a hundred miles of the funerals. They are terrorist appeasers, nothing more.
If racist Holder wants to honor agents, he should be actively supporting a tougher border security policy, and beefing up the forces who are charged with securing our open borders.

I agree with every word, LarryG. By not enforcing our immigration laws and sealing the border, Holder and Obama are responsible for those agents' deaths. Period.

I assume Holder's main theme will be "HYPOCRISY." I fully expect Janet Napolitano to follow with her Talking Points about the border being the safest ever.

All we need is for Obama to appear and we can show re-runs of "The Three Stooges."

RIP Border Agents

Add a few more Democrats and you can have a quorum. BTW: Where is Janet?

So.... How does the President just seal the border? He doesn't have the unilateral authority to do that. He has to answer to the ladies and gentlemen who actually make the laws. Unless I misunderstand how our system of government works, neither he nor Holder have the authority to simply declare the border closed. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess the flunky Janet "man-woman" Nepalitano or our Liar-In-Chief are too cowardly to face the families of the ICE officers slain by their stupid politically correct policies.

I agree if this were my family I wouldn't let Holder, Napolitano, or Obama near the funeral. It's through Obama's continued pandering to Mexico that these people were killed. How insane to allow Mexico to ban law enforcement from carrying weapons while working in Mexico. They had absolutely no way to protect themselves. 2012 can't come soon enough.

What has happened to the once Proud people Americans were when I grew up ? If Obama , Holder or any member of the corrupt band Hussein calls an administration showed up at a funeral of a relative of mine, they'd find themselves out on the street , or face down in the gutter. We may not be the completely free Nation we were when the Marxist , Half-Breed arrived, but we can still determine who we want to share our grief with us. These two pukes are members of a Race that numbers only 12% of the Population , the same ones who cry Racism when confronted with the Truth , and the same members of the same Race that is dragging down America with the dawn of every day.

So the pig who won't enforce our immigration laws wants to speak at the funeral of an immigration officer. If it was my family, we'd tell Holder to f-off.

Holder has a lot of nerve going to the funeral of that agent. He is primarily responsible for his death. He does not support guarding our borders against illegals and does nothing to uphold our laws against illegals. I don't know why he would even be welcomed or why he would even go. He is a joke. Any talk he would give would be packed with lies. The family should tell him to stay home and see how many more laws of this country he can break to allow illegals to enter.
