Darrell Issa issues first subpoenas of Obama administration

By Washington Post Editors

Felicia Sonmez reports on the 2chambers blog that House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) issued his first subpoenas of the Obama administration this week.

The subpoenas, issued Tuesday, would require Department of Homeland Security employees to testify about the department's Freedom of Information Act policies and practices.

They came less than a week after Issa sent a separate subpoena to Bank of America requesting documents and information related to Countrywide Financial's "Friends of Angelo" VIP Program. That subpoena, issued last Wednesday, was Issa's first since becoming chairman of the Oversight Committee last month.

Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, the top-ranking Democrat on the oversight panel, penned a letter to Issa on Thursday criticizing what Cummings's office charged were "three unilateral subpoenas issued abruptly over the past eight days without adequate consultation with Committee Members."

Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella brushed off the Cummings letter.

"Another day, another complaint and more righteous indignation, what else is new?" he said.

Bardella also provided a timeline that shows that Issa and Cummings, as well as their staffers, consulted on the subpoenas several times over the past week, painting the issue as somewhat more complicated.

And typical Republican witch hunts begin. Where have we seen this before? Shut down the Government? Start political investigations? Where are the jobs?

Fear, Hatred, Distortion, Distraction and Division is all Republicans have to offer America.

Assumptions:
1. corruption and payoffs are pervasive in Obama’s administration

2. many lawyers around the country are outraged at the corruption and payoffs of point 1 above, and, therefore, would be willing to do pro bono work to rectify such wrongs, either for the political exposure resulting from it or for patriotic reasons ( not all lawyers are sleazy after all)

3 in November we’ll say good bye to Pelosi and we’ll welcome Issa in his role of crook-hunter/killer

4. our newly minted representatives can assign young interns to line up the departments and the Obama appointees to be assigned to a couple hundred of law firms of point 2 above, for the purposes of serving subpoenas in this target rich environment made up of Obama, Axelrod, Holder, Rahm, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Rangel, and their acolytes

I would love to see 500 subpoenas being served over the next few months

FBI should put a guard out on Issa.
If the people in Arizona are right, who called Napolitano as looney as a tooney,
(after her wtc911 memorial lauding the terrorists was built, which they tore down),we should prepare bug out bags.

No telling what Janet will do with all her resources, before she steps graciously down.
She appears not quite right in her gaze, and her actions.

Remember the Teapublican rules people:

It's okay for a Republican (Bush) to commit war crimes, torture and out a CIA agent for political reasons.

It's not okay for a Democrat to lie about a bj (Clinton). And it's not okay to be a black Democrat (Obama) who also happens to be the president.

Middle Class Citizens,

It's about time Issa, showed the American People how up to there Elbows in Cash and Greed the Democrats are in. In the Biggest Con Game ever recorded in History.

The Set Up: The Scrapping of the Glass-Stegall Act (Bill Clinton)and the Democratic End for doing it- Freddie, Fannie and Ginnie Mac all owned and Insured by the Taxpayers. They couldn't have sold Derivative backed Securities without Government Support ie., TOO BIG TO FAIL!!! Hang it ultimately on TAXPAYERS and everybody INSIDE/theKnow gets RICH no matter what!!

The Sting: Those Organizations and the Wall Street Investment Banks worked closely together. They OWN all the debt that the WORLD and US Taxpayers are on the HOOK for. Look it up, start with the friends of Greenspan, Rueben, Summers and Geithner and Long Term Capital Management.

Republicans are Bad no doubt, but being SOLD OUT by Democrats is worse.

Who cares if Issa issues a subponea to the Obama administration. They can ignore it or claim executive privilege just like the Bush administration did over 8 years.
