Smithsonian opening a 'Made in America' gift shop

The Smithsonian Institution is planning to stock the shelves of a gift shop adjacent to its popular American presidents exhibit with goods only made in the United States. Visitors to other nearby museums in the coming months will also find more domestically-produced clothing, paperweights, magnets and wood carvings.

Obama expects trade, export reorganization plans in 90 days

President Obama is giving aides 90 days to find ways to overhaul federal trade and export agencies, according to senior administration officials familiar with his plans.

TSA revises cost of using private security screeners

A long-simmering dispute on the use of private security screeners at U.S. airports boiled over again this week as the top House Republican on transportation issues accused the Transportation Security Administration of inflating the cost of using private security screeners in an effort to keep federal screeners on the job.

Deputy U.S. Marshal dies from gunshot injuries

One of two deputy U.S. marshals shot Tuesday in St. Louis died of injuries last evening, making him the third federal agent killed in the last three weeks.

OPM to expand hiring benefit for some military spouses

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) plans to give certain military spouses expanded benefits from special federal hiring provisions.

SEC porn sting netted workers in 7 cities

The 33 Securities and Exchange Commission employees and contractors reprimanded last year for accessing pornography on agency computers worked in seven locations across the country, according to documents released as part of a lawsuit.
