But, it is important to correctly identify WHY Reagan and "W" should be vilified. It's NOT because of "deficits", per se. Deficits are sometimes necessary. Reagan gave us "trickle-down economics" -- giving tax breaks to the rich and thinking that will somehow help Middle America. "Trickle-down" was ridiculous when Reagan first got us into it starting in 1980 (after George H. W. Bush called it "voo-doo economics"). After Reagan left us in 1988 in the worst economic shape since pre-WWII, Bush 41 (to his credit) and Clinton converted Reagan's mess into a $297 billion SURPLUS by 2001. And now, only 8 years later, another round of "trickle-down" (tax cuts for the most wealthy) has put us into economic conditions not seen since 1931. For the second time in less than 30 years, we've had to learn and then re-learn, the hard way, that "trickle-down economics" really is "voo-doo economics" !

Let's all remember that in the future, when politicians start talking about giving tax breaks to the wealthiest among us.
