Yes, I would like to throw a shoe at Bernie Madoff. Preferably a pair of golf spikes that have been dipped in strychnine.

Posted by: Bawlmer51 | January 2, 2009 9:30 AM

A very tough call between Madoff and Blagojevich - I hope 2009 finds both in jail for a long, long time.

Posted by: MILW | January 2, 2009 10:07 AM

Why are all of the choices either out of power or foreign?

I'd like to throw a shoe at Hank Paulson. He took two trillion of my money and handed it off to his golfing buddies -- and we don't know what they did with it (by the results, nothing).

Posted by: lambert_strether | January 2, 2009 10:11 AM

Joe Baca - California Congressman

I do not believe in throwing things at people and can't ever visualize me doing it, but if I was in such a uncivilized culture I would probably choose......

Joe Baca for his threatening letter to the president elects transition team during the cabinet selection process for not selecting enough hispanics (letter sent after Richardson's appointment and before other cabinet appointments were completed).

Apparently he is quoted as saying "we are a people to be reckoned with" and that hispanic caucus cooperation on future legislation would be in jeapardy if the right amount of hispanics were not appointed.

Way to go Congressman, we are in the middle of a national melt down and all you can focus on is obstructing future critical legislation based on cultural and ethnic motives.

In my opinion I reserve that kind of pettiness for the Republicans.

George Bush would receive my left shoe and Alan Greenberg the right. No other is more responsible for this mess we are in.

Posted by: TEDU | January 2, 2009 10:27 AM

The right shoe would be aimed at George Bush the left at Allan Greenspan. Wish I were an octopus, would reserve the second left for old man Bush and second right for Ronald Regan. And this only scratches the surface.

Maybe it would be better to be a millipede.

Posted by: TEDU | January 2, 2009 10:29 AM

This requires no thought at all: Dan Snyder. No explanation necessary.

Posted by: kemp13 | January 2, 2009 10:35 AM

NO ONE. I threw a shoe at my brother when I was 8 and I got in a lot of trouble. Why? Because it's assault. I think Bush is a disaster but I really find it tacky when people think it's "funny" that the journalist threw shoes at him. Something like this escalates, and they're throwing worse at regular Americans who didn't invade.

Posted by: chunche | January 2, 2009 10:50 AM

Eugene Robinson - followed by Michael Wilbon...I don't understand why the Post employes either....they are so awful in their views...

Posted by: steven7753 | January 2, 2009 10:57 AM

bush and cheney since they are responsible for the lying, spying, torture, indifference and incompetence administration.

Posted by: natty-bumppo | January 2, 2009 11:07 AM

BUSH

He is the personification of all that is wrong with America...
All other villans can wait...THIS one deserves shoes until his (empty) skull cracks....

Posted by: kase | January 2, 2009 11:11 AM

Bush. It is fitting and funny that an Iraqi did this, and he deserves the Man of the Year award for it.

Posted by: Bartolo1 | January 2, 2009 11:20 AM

PG County Executive Jack Johnson, possibly the stupidest politician on the planet.

George W. Bush & Co.. I didn't vote for him either time and I'm glad that he will soon be leaving the White House. Him & his cohorts deserve both shoes.

Posted by: amethyst_krystal217 | January 2, 2009 12:41 PM

Sarah Palin. A Jimmy Choo alligator ankle-strap stiletto heel, $2,959.

Posted by: ncahill1 | January 2, 2009 12:58 PM

If I were Imelda Marcos I wouldn't have enough shoes to throw at all the people who deserved one this year.

Posted by: JGarrick62 | January 2, 2009 12:59 PM

Pitt Bull Palin would get my right shoe for being so divisive and yet so stupid during the general election; too bad the Iraq Reporter missed Bush on both attemps, I'd like to give it a shot and hope it hits him smack between the eyes--loser!

Posted by: Beingsensible | January 2, 2009 1:06 PM

Roy Pearson would get a shoe filled with cement, Bush would get a shoe filled with pig crap, Sarah Palin would get a shoe filled with pit bull crap, and Alan Greenspan would get a shoe filled with nothing but air ... just like the space between his ears.

Posted by: justhere | January 2, 2009 1:17 PM

I need more shoes: one for Paulson, several for Bush, one for Greenspan, one for Pelosi (taking impeachment off the table so Bush and Co. get away), and truckloads to throw at the "loyal Bushies" as they slink away.

Posted by: eroot | January 2, 2009 1:20 PM

Palin.

She's so full of epic fail.

Posted by: vfarscht07 | January 2, 2009 1:25 PM

Reagan and Bush, the "Deficits don't matter," boys.

Posted by: chucky-el | January 2, 2009 2:10 PM

W, W and again W. For Americans, there is NO ONE more deserving to be smacked aside the head for the past eight years of war, economic ruin, lack of progress on domestic and environmental policy and bringing the world view of America to an all time low.

Bye bye now, George. It's been real (painful).

Posted by: eclarke1 | January 2, 2009 2:17 PM

Sarah Palin. Hands down.

Posted by: WashDC14 | January 2, 2009 2:20 PM

I would want to throw something at Dubya that he wouldn't be able to duck under. Can't we just tie him to a rail road track. I want to see if the buzzards get their digs before or after the train comes along.

At first I thought Bush but then it became obvious - Cheney.

Posted by: charley42 | January 2, 2009 2:51 PM

Bush, Paulson, Cheney, Spitzer, Blagojevitch, Reid, Pelosi....ALL OF THEM.

Line 'em up, and have a shoe firing squad!

Posted by: FredEvil | January 2, 2009 3:43 PM

What? No Republicans that have looted us unmercifully, while torturing, killing and causing harm to so many in the WORLD?

Wow!

Personally, there are too many I would like to throw shoes at, starting with Bush, then Cheney, then Paulson, then ... the list goes on and on.

Posted by: splashy8 | January 2, 2009 4:50 PM

I would throw a pair at Barack Obama. Quickly followed up by another pair tossed at treasury secretary Paulson. No bailouts. No socialism.

Sarah Palin for championing ignorant, intolerant and mean-spirited treatment of the gay population in America.

Posted by: pizzaforeveryone | January 2, 2009 5:34 PM

I have been throwing virtual shoes at Bush all week. Go to the site, http://www.sockandawe.com/, so far 72.5 million virtual shoes have hit him in the (virtual) head. It is a very satisfying experience.

Posted by: dotellen | January 2, 2009 5:34 PM

Wow, what an opportunity...let me think, Not Cheney, Rumsfeld or Gonzalez, although they certainly deserve a few size 13s, but if I have only one chance at it, I would like to throw my entire shoe collection at the New York Times for its ultra biased pro-Israeli anti Arab reporting and editorializing. Hmm, let me try and guess why that is?

Posted by: perez59 | January 2, 2009 5:46 PM

Certainly it would be W, but I would need time to build a shoe cannon first...

Forget the name the Ponzi Scheme, as the Made Off Scheme has a certain panache about it. Of course he will get off with a slap of the wrist and go on the book circuit while the folks he screwed out of their investments are left holding dreams.

Yea the old golf shoes with metal spikes sounds perfect for this guy or a dunking booth with hungry bluefish in it would be nice.

Posted by: Sideswiped | January 2, 2009 7:00 PM

You can never throw too many shoes at George Bush.

Posted by: suester | January 2, 2009 7:13 PM

Chucky-el and others who named Ronald Reagan along with George W. Bush are making a very important point, in that they include Reagan as deserving of insult. But, it is important to correctly identify WHY Reagan and "W" should be vilified. It's NOT because of "deficits", per se. Deficits are sometimes necessary. Reagan gave us "trickle-down economics" -- giving tax breaks to the rich and thinking that will somehow help Middle America. "Trickle-down" was ridiculous when Reagan first got us into it starting in 1980 (after George H. W. Bush called it "voo-doo economics"). After Reagan left us in 1988 in the worst economic shape since pre-WWII, Bush 41 (to his credit) and Clinton converted Reagan's mess into a $297 billion SURPLUS by 2001. And now, only 8 years later, another round of "trickle-down" (tax cuts for the most wealthy) has put us into economic conditions not seen since 1931. For the second time in less than 30 years, we've had to learn and then re-learn, the hard way, that "trickle-down economics" really is "voo-doo economics" !

Let's all remember that in the future, when politicians start talking about giving tax breaks to the wealthiest among us.

One show for every Iraqi killed in Bushes war of ego. The shoes to be tossed at Bush and his gang of thugs.

Posted by: stodayxx | January 2, 2009 7:30 PM

The Curator of the George Bush Presidential Library should be delegated to recover the shoes thrown by the Iraqui. He should be given authority to task State, DOD, Iraq Prime Minister and the lousy pitcher who sailed the shoes. They would insure more bipartisan visitors to this shrine of incompetence.

I WOULD THROW THIS SIZE ELEVEN AT THE PUNK THAT THREW THE SHOE AT AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT.THEN I WOULD ASK HIM IF HE WOULD HAVE THROWN HIS SHOE AT SADAAM.HE WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A RETORICAL QUESTION. BY THE WAY I VOTED FOR OBAMA.

Posted by: ronsmith56 | January 2, 2009 8:02 PM

Bush gets one at point blank range, Cheney gets the other, ditto. Hopefully Palin is nearby to get hit by a ricochet.

Posted by: jeffeldon | January 2, 2009 8:18 PM

Barbara Bush. Not only for spawning 43, but for being an awful person in her own right.

Posted by: postman2 | January 2, 2009 9:22 PM

Cheney, Rummy, Bush.

A shoe-insult trifecta.

Posted by: johnnyreb | January 2, 2009 9:27 PM

Mr. G. W. Bush - the butcher.

Posted by: queensbury1 | January 2, 2009 9:31 PM

The executive branch of the U.S. government after hitting Robert Mugabe; same shoe, good shot.

Posted by: mymorna | January 2, 2009 10:27 PM

I'd also like to throw my shoes at the head of the Dr. Marten shoe company who ruined the quality of an iconic brand by moving manufacture of Doc Marten's from England to China.

Posted by: postman2 | January 2, 2009 10:37 PM

Mr. Know One

Let him who hasn't sinned cast the first shoe.

Posted by: ericnestor | January 2, 2009 11:04 PM

What an incredibly dumb concept. It's this light-hearted BS that is totally unnecessary on a hard news site. Shoe throwing is serious business in some religions, and you trivialize it with your stupid column. And people wonder why the Post is no longer taken to be as legitimate a news source as it used to be.

Posted by: jmroto2005 | January 2, 2009 11:19 PM

Definitely Spitzer and Blagojevich. Liars and hypocrites deserve a whack upside the head. Terminal stupidity merits shoe-tossing, too, so I'll include Governor Palin and our (very) lame duck outgoing President and VP. Oh, and two huge, muddy Michael Phelps-sized shoes, please, to the evil, divisive noisemakers Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Yes we can!!

Posted by: KellyBelle22 | January 3, 2009 12:20 AM

Barbara Bush for not getting an abortion when she found out she was carrying 43.

Posted by: coloradan | January 4, 2009 2:19 AM
