Couple of Weather Postponements
Our Web site is running a list of closings and cancellations, because of today's storm, but I heard about a couple of others related to transportation events.
-- The Prince William Committee of 100 has postponed this evening's forum on transportation scheduled for the Four Points Sheraton in Manassas and will pick a new date for the event. (I heard about that one because I was scheduled to moderate the panel and am looking forward to getting there on the new date.)
-- The Maryland State Highway Administration has postponed an open house scheduled for tonight in Montgomery County to discuss plans to widen Route 124. SHA spokeswoman Kellie Boulware says the new date is Feb. 7. The meeting at Judith A. Resnick Elementary School cafeteria, 7301 Hadley Farms Drive, Gaithersburg, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. (The SHA is planning to widen Route 124 to a six-lane roadway between Airpark Road and Rosewood Manor Lane.)
[The Web site also has a story tracking the storm's impact, and a new blog called Capital Weather Gang, where people around the region are submitting their own weather updates. ]

The Caps game is still a go, and the pubs around the Phone Booth are still serving the pre-game beers, so I know where I'm sitting out this rush hour :-)

WMATA is also diverting some buses due to slick roads. From the metro website:
Select Metrobus routes in Virginia and the District detoured due to slippery roads
With wet snow falling in the area, in Virginia:

The 16 in Annandale are turning back at Little River Turnpike and Medford Drive.
E6 is out of service until streets are cleared.
K6 is staying on New Hampshire Ave, not serving the Northampton area.
H8 in Mt Pleasant is using Hawaii Ave. instead of 2nd St.
G2 is not serving P & O Streets but serving Dumbarton St. instead.
D2 is not serving Glover Park.
