DMV Launches Online Scheduling of Vehicle Inspections
The District's Department of Motor Vehicles is now offering the ability to set up appointments for vehicle inspections on its Web site, www.dmv.dc.gov.
The system is expected to cut down on customer wait times for the inspections, which are normally conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Inspections of vehicle safety and emissions are required of all District drivers. Residents can visit the DMV Web site or call 311 for more information.

Not sure I would trust this . . . "uh, you got an appointment? get in line with the rest of them"
I've never had a long wait at the DMV. True, I try to go when it's not likely to be busy, but how hard is that? Not very.
