Commuter Alert: Possible Delays on VRE
VRE reports that afternoon commuters may experience a type of delay that is typical this time of year. Wet leaves on the Manassas Line tracks may force the trains to slow down.
The Manassas Line's midday train, No. 325 departing Union Station at 1:15 p.m. was struggling through such conditions this afternoon. So VRE put out an advisory saying that the rest of the afternoon's service could be similarly affected.
As the trains pass over the leaves, they press oil out onto the tracks, and that can make them slippery -- especially when the trains are going uphill.
