Inauguration Train Tickets Available for MARC, VRE

MARC tickets will go on sale Saturday. VRE is going with a tickets by mail program. Tickets for Maryland's commuter buses can be bought aboard the buses on Jan. 20. Here are more details about the tickets and services.

MARC
Roundtrip tickets for reserved MARC train service will cost $25. Each traveler must have a ticket. All tickets are marked for use on specific trains.

No exchanges will be allowed. Passengers who miss their reserved trains should contact Amtrak station personnel for assistance. No other type of ticket besides the reserved train ticket will be good on Jan. 20.

Two purchase options:
Cash Only. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, tickets wil be on sale for cash at Camden Yards Station and Monocacy Station. Cash purchases for the Camden and Penn lines will be sold only at the Camden Yards Station, and the cash tickets for the Brunswick MARC service will be sold only at the Monocacy Station. There's a limit of four tickets per transaction, with no refunds or exchanges.

Online. Starting Saturday, go to www.CommuterDirect.com. There will be a limit of 25 tickets per transaction, with no refunds or exchanges. Tickets are $25 plus a $6.50 shipping and handling fee per order. All orders will be shipped out beginning Jan. 6 and should be received no later than Jan. 9.

Penn Line: Twelve trains from Baltimore to Washington between 5 and 9 a.m. and 12 trains from Washington to Baltimore between 4 and 9 p.m.

Camden Line: Seven trains from Baltimore to Washington between 6 and 10 a.m. and then seven trains from Washington to Baltimore between 4 and 9 p.m.

Brunswick Line: Nine trains to Washington between 6 and 10 a.m. and then nine trains from Washington between 4 and 9 p.m.

Maryland Commuter Buses
They will operate shuttles between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. to Metrorail stations and then between 4 and 9 p.m. from the stations. Reservations are not required. Tickets can be purchased onboard. All shuttles will charge a $10 for the round trip. Exact change only. No other type of ticket will be good on Jan. 20.

Here are the locations and the frequency of the Jan. 20 service.

Frederick (Monocacy Park & Ride) to Shady Grove: every 15 minutes
Columbia (Broken Land Park & Ride) to Greenbelt: every 15 minutes
Scaggsville/Burtonsville to Silver Spring: every 15 minutes
Annapolis to New Carrollton: every 15 minutes
Kent Island to New Carrollton: every 30 minutes
Prince Frederick/Dunkirk to Branch Avenue: every 15 minutes
Upper Marlboro to Branch Avenue: every 15 minutes
Charlotte Hall to Branch Avenue: every 15 minutes
Waldorf (Blue Crabs Stadium) to Branch Avenue: every 10 minutes

VRE
Only reserved tickets will be honored for the Inauguration Day Service. The order form will require riders to list three choices for the northbound and southbound trains from the Special Schedule. The tickets are first-come-first-served.

This is a link to the mail order form. This is the only way to get the VRE inauguration day tickets. Tickets will be mailed to you by Jan. 9.

The check or money order, made out to VRE, must come in with the ticket request. Everyone traveling will need a ticket. You will be able to board only the trains indicated on your ticket, and no exhanges or refunds are allowed. No other type of ticket will be good on Jan. 20.
