Metro Modifies Station Closings for Jan. 20
This morning, I said that Inauguration Day plans keep evolving. They just evolved some more.
The transit authority announced that the Smithsonian Metrorail station on the Blue and Orange lines and the Archives Station on the Green and Yellow lines will reopen following the Inauguration parade at about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
The old plan called for them to be shut down all day, for security and crowd control reasons. Reopening them in the early evening will help clear out central Washington after the day's events, but they're likely to be very crowded, like the other downtown stations.
You can find more updates today at Inauguration Central.
