Parking Update
The Franconia-Springfield lot is full, Arlington County reports, but they've opened up the lot of a nearby high school and the ones used by the Virginia Railway Express regional trains. Fairfax Connector buses are ferrying inauguration-goers from these lots to the Metro station.
Metro also has sent out an alert that that Largo and Van Dorn stations' parking has filled up.
Post reporter Nelson Hernandez reports that parking is plentiful up at Silver Spring, which has coin-filled meters and isn't charging the $4 fee (exact change only) in effect elsewhere.
And Post reporter Jonathan F. Mummolo says spirits have been high at the New Carrollton station, although the parking lot has just filled. Varick Baiyina, of Bowie, managed to snag the last spot in the Metro garage.
"That was a beautiful thing," he said. "There's still about 40 or 50 spaces, but I think they're saving it for handicap."
