Red Line Already Packed

Metro spokesman Lisa Farbstein told WUSA that red line trains are packed already, and a washingtonpost.com journalist said the first train at Cleveland Park was so packed that no one else could squeeze on.

Reports on Twitter and WTOP suggest that many of the delays are caused by people jammed up at parking and the ticketing machines at the ends of the line.

Riders' best shot at getting on a train is to go all the way to one end of the platform -- Robert Thomson reports that many people don't realize these are eight-car trains, so the first and last cars often have few passengers.
