Traffic Alert: Extra Congestion Downtown

[5:50 p.m. Update: D.C. officials say traffic is now flowing in the Capitol Hill area, but they urge drivers to use caution and watch for pedestrians following the March for Life.]

Rolling street closures near the Capitol may cause delays for homebound commuters this afternoon.

The closures for the annual March for Life are in the area of 1st Street NE, Madison Drive, East Capitol Street, Jefferson Drive, Constitution Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Also, drivers and bus users may encounter delays this afternoon in the Foggy Bottom area, because some streets around the State Department could be temporarily blocked for use by government motorcades.

The Maryland Transit Administration is advising its commuter bus passengers that these delays may throw off the bus schedule.
