Metro to Eliminate Union Station-Navy Yard Bus

The Metro board plans to vote Thursday to end service on the N22 route, which many people used either to connect with their jobs in the Navy Yard area of Southeast Washington or to reach Nationals Park. The District intends to start a new route along that corridor using its Circulator buses.

This is similar to a move made in February when the board agreed to end service in March on Route 98, another District service that links Adams Morgan and the U Street corridor. In this case as well, the District is planning to launch a Circulator bus service to link those two entertainment hubs, though the new Circulator will not duplicate the route of the 98 bus.

Metro and the District Department of Transportation say that there already is enough Metrobus service to handle passenger needs in the area. Specifically, they say, people can use the 90,92 and 93 buses.

The District has been subsidizing both the N22 and 98 routes. It will start to subsidize the new Circulators it will establish in those two corridors this spring.

Will the new Circulator route stop at Woodley Park station?

Any idea what the stops will be for the Circulator that will replace the 98 route? Rumor had it coming into Shaw to start close to the O street to SW waterfront route.. Shaw/UStreet/AdamsMorgan sounds like a great route to me; please let us know any more information...thanks

do we have a timeline of when the N22 will cease operation,a nd when the Circulator will start? I live in the Navy Yard area and use it frequently to get to Eastern Market; I ahve several friends who live near Union Station and planned to use it to come down for baseball games.

I listened to the March 12th Metro Board meeting that approved the elimination of the N22 bus route on March 29th. However, there has been no communication on the new route to the Navy Yard area. With only two weeks left before this switch, once again this seems very poor planning not only on WMATA's part but also DDOT.
