Quieter Roadways but Bus Crash Remains

Traffic remains troublesome around the bus accident on I-66 westbound just east of Nutley. As of 8:34 p.m., traffic was still backing up 12 miles on I-66 W, according to Virginia State Police. The accident was also causing backups on the outer loop of the Beltway approaching I-66.
But roadways have quieted elsewhere in the region. No mass exodus out of D.C. for the holiday weekend, at least not at the moment. A pity -- those of us staying put were hoping for depopulated streets, ample parking, no wait at the supermarket...
