Accident closes Route 404 at Route 480; detour open
UPDATING POST AT 2:10 PM:
Updating/changing our earlier post -- according to Maryland State Highway Administration officials, the accident at Route 404 involved two vehicles right where 404 intersects with Route 480 (in the town of Hillsboro.)
The road has been closed since 12:40 p.m. and there's a detour in place; the detour is pretty simple, running right around Hillsboro and not taking people too far out of the way, said Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman David Buck.
However, be wary of taking Route 50 instead of 404 due to the detour -- he described it as a pretty small detour, while Route 50 is seeing more and more traffic.
Route 404 was closed at Route 480 due to an accident, according to Maryland State Police. Traffic is now moving again, albeit slowly. Anyone heading to the Eastern Shore, Ocean City or just lovely, scenic Delaware should anticipate possible delays.
