Virginia 5:30 p.m. update for you -- all from the Virginia Department of Transportation:
-- Multi-vehicle accident on I-66 westbound at mile marker 62. The west left shoulder, left lane, left center lane and right center lane are closed, and backups are approximately 1 mile (though that was just minutes ago, and it's a logical guess that as people head out of D.C. with the work day ending, backups could get worse).
-- There's general I-66 westbound congestion, which isn't atypical for the end of the work day. Since 5 p.m., they reported major delays due to congestion in: Fairfax County (mile marker 60, near Chain Bridge Road), Prince William County (mile markers 40 and 47), Arlington County (mile marker 69, near Sycamore Street),
-- They're also reporting I-395 delays due to congestion, at mile marker 9; backups were about 3 miles when reported at 5:20 p.m.
-- There also remains significant traffic and congestion on I-95 Southbound -- at mile marker 148.3, traffic backups are about 12 miles, according to VDOT.
