VDOT Hopes to Close Route 123 Lane Tonight
The Capital Weather Gang says we'll have scattered storms this evening, but the Virginia Department of Transportation still hopes to get the left lane closed on the northbound side of Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) so the HOT lanes construction can proceed in Tysons.
VDOT plans to start the closure at 9:30 p.m., so that the barriers are in place by 5 a.m. Friday. The southbound left lane already is closed off. Getting the other one closed will allow construction to proceed in the median, where crews will build a bridge pier to support two new lanes of the Capital Beltway. Drivers on Route 123 will have two through lanes and a merge lane in each direction into November, when the work will be suspended for the holiday shopping season.
