Many Street Closings Downtown For Triathlon
[3 p.m. Update: The race is over. Cleanup is starting on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, the District reports. The avenue is open between 3rd Street and 7th Street, but is still closed from 7th to 14 Street. All bridges are open.]
Original post: There are extensive street closures today around the National Mall and up the Potomac River into Georgetown for the Dextro EnergyTriathlon. See a map here. Also, Metrorail has delays of 20 to 30 minutes on the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines because of track work. See more details in The Weekend and Beyond.
[At 10 a.m., the downtown traffic camera views look pretty good. Maybe a Father's Day effect?]
Also, there's the Nationals game at 1:35 p.m., which usually means some congestion along South Capitol Street, and on the Green Line and at Metrorail transfer stations.
