Delays on VRE's Manassas Line
Staff writer Jennifer Buske reports that Virginia Railway Express Train 325, which left the District at 1:15 p.m. is running 80 minutes late on the Manassas line. The train was stopped at Burke Centre because of police activity. Fairfax County Police are searching for a man who had threatened to harm himself.
At 3:45 p.m. VRE officials said they were given the go ahead to operate train 325 at a reduced speed of 15 mph-compared to an average of 55 mph. Police, however, have yet to find the allegedly suicidal man.
Train 327 was scheduled to leave the District around 3:45 p.m. VRE officials said they are hoping by the time that train arrives at Burke, police will give the commuter-rail service the go ahead to operate back at full speed, minimizing delays for the rest of the day.
