Construction begins Highway Interchange near Bowie
A year-long $2.1 million bridge rehabilitation project gets underway Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Route 214 in Prince George's county. Drivers headed east on 214 will discover that access to 301 has been closed.
Construction crews will maintain two through lanes along southbound US 301 by utilizing an existing lane and one shoulder.
The centerpiece of the project is replacement of the bridge deck on southbound 301. The bridge was built in 1959 and carries an average of 51,000 vehicles per day.
