Quickly Contained Gas Leak on S. St. Averts Delays
A gas main break outside a building in the 1400 block of S. St. was quickly contained by emergency responders, officials said.
There were no fires, injuries or evacuations when the incident happened after 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to D.C. Deputy Fire Chief Kenneth Crosswhite.
"It's really nothing," he said. "It's really mitigated."
Gas was capped off, and Washington Gas crews came to the scene.
D.C. Department of Transportation spokesman John Lisle said he knew of no delays from the gas main break.
