Ramps Closed for Hotlane Work

Steel beams will be lifted into place for a new bridge on I-495 south over Chain Bridge Road (Route 123). For the next two weeks, exit ramps will be closed at I-495 from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Route 123 south will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
The I-495 south exit ramp (Exit 46B) to Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north is closed for another 38 days. The ramp closure is necessary for the HOT Lanes crews to build bridge piers for the new HOT Lanes access from Westpark Drive to the Beltway. Crews will reconfigure the ramp and build two drainage facilities for the HOT Lanes Project and Tysons Corner Center.
Concrete beam placement and bridge deck construction at Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) continues for the new I-495 north and south exit ramp bridges. Expect the temporary closure of both directions of Route 50 and ramp detours from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.

I frequently drove on 123 to Tysons to either shop or drop off/pick up my niece from her weekend job at the mall. Today, for the first time, I could actually figure out where the new Beltway lanes were going. One thing I've noticed, there much more of a Fairfax county police presence on 123, just police cars cruising and slowing the traffic down, both north and south.
