Traffic Alert: SB BW Pkwy. Reopens After Serious Accident
Update, 10:43 a.m.: All southbound lanes are now open.
Original post, 8:38 a.m.: Southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway is closed after Rt. 197 by a serious accident. Traffic backs up from Rt. 32 and is being diverted at Rt. 197. Eastbound 197 is jammed toward Powder Mill Rd. Eastbound 198 to I-95 is a good alternate route. WTOP reports a police officer was struck on the parkway and numerous police units are on the scene investigating the accident.
One lane of traffic gets by on northbound B.W. Pkwy., but traffic is slow from Greenbelt Rd. A medevac unit has come and gone from the scene.
