Accident on I-495 and Georgia Avenue
An accident took place a short time ago on the Beltway at MD 97/Georgia Ave. The accident was called into the Maryland State Highway Administration at 4:25 p.m. More information as we get it....
5 P.M. UPDATE: The Maryland State Police that it's a relatively minor accident, with nobody needing to be taken to the hospital. The accident took place on the outer loop of the Beltway closer to Connecticut Avenue (MD 185) than Georgie Avenue (MD 97). Three vehicles were involved, and everything is on the shoulder. As of 5 p.m., the accident was almost cleared.
However, the state police did note that it's still the Friday of a holiday weekend, so people should already expect gridlock and lengthy commutes home.
Read about the rest of the roads in my roundup of Beltway traffic.
