Metro: Foggy Bottom-GWU Station Reopens

UPDATE (3:45 p.m.): Nothing hazardous was found in the suspicious package, D.C. police officials said. All the roads are now clear and open to regular traffic.

UPDATE (3:40 p.m.): As of 3:33 p.m., Metro reopened the Foggy Bottom station to passengers.

UPDATED: (3:10 p.m.): D.C. police have closed 23rd St. from G to I Streets and I St.
from 21st 23rd streets in Northwest because of the suspicious package.

UPDATED (3:05 p.m.): The Foggy Bottom remains closed at the request of the D.C. police because of the suspicious package outside, Metro says. Trains are running through the station but not stopping.

Shuttle buses are running between the Rosslyn and Farragut West stations. But Metro warns that related traffic and street closures associated will make it hard for them to get to the station.

Customers are advised to consider using Farragut West on the Orange and Blue Lines if they're traveling toward New Carrollton and Largo Town Center.

ORIGINAL POST (2:45 p.m.): Metro reports that Foggy Bottom-GWU Station is closed due to a report of a suspicious package outside the station. Shuttle bus service has been requested. The transit agency warns riders to expect delays in both directions.

I'm a bit confused. Does that mean I can still get on the Orange Line at Farragut West heading to Vienna but that I just can't get off at Foggy Bottom? Or, is Metro making everybody get off the train at Farragut West and then reboard at Rosslyn?

Mensa58: You can stay on towards Vienna but cannot get on or off at Foggy Bottom. "Trains are running through the station but not stopping." :)

Does anyone know if this post will be updated when the situation has been resolved?

Well, kbockl you obviously aren't too intelligent yourself.

Thanks love4mizzou. When Metro says they have shuttle buses but also say trains are runnig through the station, who knows what they meant.

There were shuttle buses to get people to Foggy Bottom from Rosslyn or from Farragut West. I think I need to reiterate the sentiment...mensa indeed.
