Traffic Alert: Accident Blocks Lane on New York Ave. at 3rd St. Tunnel
Updated, 9:35 a.m.: The accident has been cleared and tunnel traffic is returning to normal.
Original Post: An accident possibly involving a police vehicle is blocking the right lane on inbound New York Ave. at the 3rd St. Tunnel. Delays are on-and-off from Bladensburg Ave. NE.

We saw this in the AM. The police van turned on his lights as he turned into the tunnel, then stopped and attempted to move to the right side of the road.
When I came back by, a vehicle had evidently either struck the officer or the vehicle. I was stuck as the ambulance blocked both lanes, and they put the officer on the stretcher.
Not sure how serious. I was the second car after 30 minutes to get by the scene.
