Headaches on the Horizon
Weeknight Metro Delays
If you're heading out on the Metro system after 9:30 tonight, be prepared for delays. Metro has maintenance and repairs scheduled on every line this week, so trains in many locations will share one track:
Red Line passengers traveling between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time as Metro replaces rail fasteners and makes tunnel and bridge repairs;
Orange Line passengers traveling between New Carrollton and Cheverly stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time while Metro replaces rail fasteners;
Blue Line passengers traveling between Foggy Bottom-GWU and Arlington Cemetery stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time while Metro replaces rail fasteners;
Green and Yellow lines: In preparation for the Columbus Day weekend station closures of Waterfront-SEU and Archives Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter stations and the Green and Yellow lines of L'Enfant Plaza Station, Green Line trains will share one track between Navy Yard and Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center stations, and Yellow Line trains will share one track between Pentagon City and Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center stations.
Dulles Road Ramp Closings
From midnight to 5 a.m., the ramp will be closed from Leesburg Pike westbound to the Dulles Toll Road eastbound. During the same time, the ramp will be closed from the Dulles Toll Road eastbound to westbound Leesburg Pike. Be alert for detours.
Telegraph Road Ramp Closing
As part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, the exit ramp from the inner loop to Pershing Avenue will be closed tonight for construction. Motorists should use the next exit from the inner loop to Telegraph Road northbound and turn right onto Pershing Avenue.
I-66 Lane Closure
The left lane of eastbound I-66 between Haycock Road and Great Falls Street will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day.
Circulator Bus Changes
Be alert for some changes to the D.C. Circulator system that took effect on Sunday.
Union Station-Navy Yard Route: Circulator buses heading to Navy Yard Metro station exit the Union Station parking garage, travel around Columbus Circle and stop at Delaware Avenue NE. From there the buses will turn right on First Street NE, right on D Street NE and left on Louisiana Avenue, returning to their current route.
Buses traveling to Union Station turn left at Louisiana Avenue onto North Capitol Street, right onto E Street, NE, right onto Columbus Circle and stop at Delaware Avenue NE, before returning to the Union Station parking garage. There are new stops at Louisiana Avenue and D Streets NE in both directions.
