Metro: Car Backed Into Bus, Fled the Scene
UPDATE (5:07 p.m.): A car that backed into an H8 Metrobus fled the scene this afternoon, Metro spokeswoman Taryn McNeil said. Bus 2165 was headed eastbound on Park Rd., about to make a left onto New Hampshire Avenue, with eight passengers on board at about 3:20 p.m. An unidentified automobile was driving westbound on Park Rd, McNeil said. As the bus attempted to make a left turn, the car backed up and hit the left rear wheel of the bus. The car then fled the scene, leaving the bus with minor damage, she said. There were no injuries. McNeil said the bus driver would not be placed on paid administrative leave.
ORIGINAL (3:56 p.m.): An H8 Metrobus got into an accident at Park Rd. and New Hampshire Ave. NW at about 3:20 p.m., officials said.
Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates said a supervisor is heading to the scene to find out what's happening, but she said the driver reported that initially there appeared to be no injuries. The operator called at 3:20 pm to report they were involved in an accident.
No other details are immediately available.
