Metro's Catoe Receives Award in Orlando
Metro General Manager John B. Catoe Jr. accepted the "Outstanding Public Transportation Manager" award in Orlando on Tuesday from a leading industry trade group.
Catoe learned he would receive the award in May, weeks before the Red Line crash killed nine and injured 80. In recognizing Catoe at their annual meeting, American Public Transportation Association officials praised Catoe for his performance during President Obama's inauguration in January and in the weeks after the June crash.
The award comes as the beleagured transit agency faces several recent tragedies, including Tuesday's death of a passenger struck by a Metrobus less than 24 hours before.
Catoe's contract was extended for three years by Metro's board of directors on Sept. 24.

Hasn't 2009 been the worst year in Metro's history? I know I stopped bragging about the subway this year, primarily because of unreliable & crowded weekend service.
