Water Main Break Causes Continuing Delays in Prince George's County
UPDATE (8:59 a.m.): Crews are still on the scene, trying to fix the water main break. It could take hours. One of the northbound lanes and part of the shoulder has reopened, though. Both southbound lanes are moving. Drivers should try to avoid the area if possible.
ORIGINAL (5:52 a.m.) A water main break early this morning has closed both northbound lanes and shoulders on Maryland Route 500 (Queens Chapel Rd.) in the Hyattsville area between Queensbury Rd. and Route 410. Crews are still trying to close the break. Drivers are advised to look for alternatives.
Both I-495 and U.S. 1 -- the major roads nearby -- are moving along normally with minimal congestion.

I-495 runs NOWHERE near the intersection listed.
If it watermain broke on Queens Chapel Rd, between Queensbury & MD 410 (East West Highway) then the closest main roads are US1, MD 410 (EW-HGWY) & I would even list Adelphi Rd, which ends at the intersection of Queens Chapel & MD410.
I-495 is a good 3-4 miles (at US1) from here & where it does meet US#1 its actually called I-95.
Doctor. . I prescribe a 2week vacation, and call me in the morning.
