Update, 12:50 p.m.:

Officials report repairs will continue through late this evening and possibly into the Friday morning rush, which could cause major delays.

I went from Kingstowne to Falls Church at 11.30 and the Beltway was at a standstill. 15 minutes from the Springfield Interchange to Braddock Road convinced me to exit the highway and take Ravensworth Road to Gallows Road instead. On the way home at around 15.30 I was on the Outer Loop and observed that the Inner Loop was still at a standstill from the US-29 overpass (between US-50 and I-66) all the way to the Springfield Interchange. People may wish to use another route tonight.
