Update, 12:50 p.m.:
A lane on the Inner Loop at Rt. 50 in Fairfax County remains closed by a water main break that snarled the morning commute in the area, according to Fairfax County. Officials report repairs will continue through late this evening and possibly into the Friday morning rush, which could cause major delays.
Original post, 6:30 a.m.:

I went from Kingstowne to Falls Church at 11.30 and the Beltway was at a standstill. 15 minutes from the Springfield Interchange to Braddock Road convinced me to exit the highway and take Ravensworth Road to Gallows Road instead. On the way home at around 15.30 I was on the Outer Loop and observed that the Inner Loop was still at a standstill from the US-29 overpass (between US-50 and I-66) all the way to the Springfield Interchange. People may wish to use another route tonight.
