Headaches on the horizon

Beltway HOT lanes
Lots of work overnight from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.
Lanes closed:
-- Three right lanes of I-495 south at Exit 51, Gallows Rd. (Route 650) for bridge work.
-- Two lanes of Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west at I-495 for bridge work.

Road closed:
-- Lee Highway (Route 29) south at I-495 for waterline installation.
-- I-495 north and south at Lewinsville Road overpass for up to 30 minutes at a time to begin after midnight.

Ramp closed:
-- I-495 north collector distributor road at Exit 54 Braddock Rd. (Route 620) and ramp to Braddock Rd. west for steel beam erection.
-- Ramp from Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east to I-495 north for steel beam erection.
-- Ramp from Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west to I-495 south for bridge work.
-- Ramp from Gallows Rd. (Route 650) north to I-495 south.

Dulles Metrorail project
Lanes closed:
-- A single lane of I-66 west between Haycock Blvd. and Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) for equipment movement and excavation.
-- A single lane of I-66 east from the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) to Great Falls Street for barrier movement and excavation.
-- Service road of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at Westpark Drive for utility work.
-- A single lane of Westpark Dr. from Greensboro Dr. to Leesburg Pike (Route 7) for utility work.
-- Turn lanes from Route 123 north and south to Capital One Drive for utility work .
-- Capital One Drive north and south at the Route 123 intersection for utility work.

The new HOT lane construction configuration at 50 and the beltway is a disaster. All US50 & Gallows Road (4 lanes total) traffic wanting to north on the beltway has to funnel down into one lane before getting on the beltway. This is causing huge backups where there were almost none before. The problem is that there is now only one point of entry onto the beltway whereas last week there were two: one for US50 west to I-495 North and one for US50 East/Gallows Road to I-495 north.

Is this going to be the permanent solution? If so, it's unacceptable. There are no detailed maps on the VaMegaProjects website or on the hotlane website.
