Major road closures in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports several closures on major roadways and some ramps, because of deteriorating travel conditions and accidents. The department continues to urge drivers to stay off the roads.

VDOT says these roads are blocked because of snow-related incidents:
-- Southbound I-495 at Braddock Road
-- Northbound I-95 south of Lorton
-- Northbound I-95 south of Quantico

Virginia State Police have closed these ramps because of icing:
-- Westbound I-495 to southbound I-95
-- Northbound I-95 to northbound I-495
-- Franconia Road (Route 644) to southbound I-95

395-south just past Shirlington might as well be closed, at least as of thirty minutes ago. I took a walk this afternoon and from about 2:30 to 3:45 (when I came back home), the highway was either blocked completely or nearly blocked by stuck cars.
