Md. Route 410 reopens to all traffic

Update (7 a.m.): All lanes are now open on Route 410.

Update (6:50 a.m.): Eastbound lanes remain blocked. Television reports show that traffic is still being diverted to U.S. 50.

Another area to watch out for is I-270 southbound south of Montrose Road, where an accident has been reported.

Update (6:30 a.m.): Trafficland reports that traffic in the right lane can now squeeze by on westbound 410. Eastbound lanes remain blocked.

Another area to watch out for is Route 4 northbound at Suitland Road. A disabled vehicle has reportedly blocked a turn lane, and traffic is backing up to Dower House Road.

Original post: Good morning, Washington. The main news at this hour is the closing of Maryland Route 410 at U.S. 50. Trafficland is reporting an accident involving a tractor-trailer, with a fuel spill. I drove by this earlier this morning, and emergency vehicles were everywhere. You'll need to seek alternate routes around this area. You can exit at Route 202 and take Route 450 to your destination.

Other areas to watch for: a disabled vehicle on I-495 northbound before Gallows Road, with the right lane blocked; and a tree is reportedly blocking the ramp to the outer loop on the GW Parkway northbound before I-495.

Metro is not reporting any bus or rail delays.

Stay alert and be careful out there.
