Metro announces contest to guess ridership
Metro is giving away a $25 SmarTrip card as part of a New Year's contest to guess how many people will be riding Metrorail on the first day of 2010.
Contest participants have to submit their e-mail address and a guess of the ridership for Jan. 1 via Metro's Web site. Metro officials said, "The first person to guess the correct number of riders, or comes the closest without going over, will win." The agency plans to notify the winner by Jan. 8.
Metrorail will open at 7 a.m. on New Year's Day and and close at 2 a.m. The contest is open until midnight New Year's Day, Metro said.
