Headaches on the horizon
Pothole patching
Avoid this: Two lanes of the Beltway's inner loop between Route 1 and the Eisenhower Connector will be closed nightly this week for pothole patching. The lane closings will begin at 7:30 p.m. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane by 8:30 p.m. All three lanes will be reopened no later than 5 a.m.
11th Street Bridges project
From Wednesday through Jan. 22, these lanes will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily:
-- The left lane of eastbound 11th Street SE from the Anacostia River to the intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
-- The right lane southbound on DC 295/I-295 between Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road.
The shoulders may also be closed during the same hours.
The District Department of Transportation says contractors will be using the lane closings to place construction access points, concrete barriers and other traffic controls related to the start of construction on the 11th Street Bridges.
