Parking closures at the Laurel Station due to potential flooding

MARC travelers taking the Camden Line, be aware that the American Legion lot at the Laurel Station will be closed today due to potential flooding. Only the front lot located on the US 1 side of the station will be open. And there will likely be no available parking at Laurel after train 845 departs at 6:49 a.m., the Maryland Transit Administration reports.

The MTA recommends the two stations as possible alternatives, both of which they say will have plenty of extra parking spaces:

-- Savage MARC Station: Head north on US 1 from Laurel (right turn from the station) to MD 32 east (2.8 miles). Take the first exit, Dorsey Run Road, and turn right at the top of the ramp. Immediately turn left into the Savage MARC station parking lot.

-- Muirkirk MARC Station: Head south on US 1 from Laurel (left turn from the station) for 3.8 miles. Make a right on Muirkirk Meadows Drive and a quarter-mile later, turn right on Muirkirk Road. After crossing the CSX tracks/Camden Line on a bridge, make a left into Muirkirk MARC station.

All Laurel tickets -- single ride, weekly or monthly -- are always going to be honored from the Savage and Muikirik stations for travelers heading to Washington.
