How did they do?

How do you think your state and local officials handled this weekend's Snowmaggedon? Send your thoughts, photos and, if possible, a phone number where you can be reached to

Next: What's clear?

Having been around most of NOVA the past few days, I would give VDOT a solid A for their handling of this snowstorm. Most interstates, primary, and secondary roads remained clear enough for the duration of the blizzard to allow most 4WD vehicles to pass through them with relative safety. Considering that this was a snowstorm of epic proportions for the area, I give high praise.

I give DC an A as well. I thought for sure the surrounding jurisdictions would be ready to go before DC, and it would be the city holding back the region in terms of getting back to work. Quite the opposite is true. The city was ready for business by Monday morning, as promised. Its because of Metro and surrounding jurisdictions not yet being ready that's preventing the workers from coming in, not because DC isn't ready.

Metro gets a C. I understand why they had to shut down, but its now 2 days after the storm and they haven't gotten anything open yet. You'd think restoring Yellow Line service over the river would be easy..push the snow off the bridge into the river. No switches, no platforms, but restoration of a critical link. Nothing. And 30-minute headways on their underground service?? I think they could do a little bit better.

Prince George's gets a failing grade.

We still have one street - Nairn Court in our community that is unplowed.

The county snow plows that came through did a less than thorough job and had a nasty attitude.

No one answers the phone at the County's Snow Emergency Center @ 301.350.5203.

We deserve better!

Okay...I'm downgrading my grade for DC to a B. I 'underground metro-ed' to work today after leaving my car in Arlington last Friday, so the only thing I could see was a tiny stretch of Connecticut.

But I drove home, and there were some pretty dicey areas. Roosevelt Bridge ramps, the Kennedy Center mess at Virginia/Rock Creek parkway, and the streets connecting the Parkway to Connecticut were a mess. The Parkway was great, but thats not a DDOT road.
