Outbound Key Bridge reopens
Capital Weather Gang | Plowing plans | Snow removal | Live traffic
4:30 p.m.: Police have cleared the intersection and traffic is flowing in both directions.
4 p.m. Update: Well, that was short-lived. There were some cars allowed earlier, but now traffic seems to be restricted to salt trucks.
3:55 p.m. Update: Outbound traffic is now being allowed onto the bridge.
3:46 p.m. Update: Now there's just once police car blocking the lanes.
3:36 p.m. Update: A second police car has joined the first to block the outbound lanes of the bridge. Earlier, we saw a police officer stop some drivers who were trying to go around.
3:21 p.m. Update: This may take while. There are flares now set up in the intersection to alert motorists to the closure. It's also snowing and visibility is decreasing.
3:12 p.m. Update: Traffic cameras show that a police vehicle is blocking access to the outbound lanes of the Key Bridge. Inbound traffic is flowing normally.
Original post: DDOTDC just tweeted that the outbound Key Bridge is closed for snow removal. No word yet on how long this may take.

Sounds like a cop on a power trip.. This was right after a few cars sneaked through.

Why does this cop feel the need to block one of the turning lanes???

it's good that they are clearing it. There was one lane taken up by giant snow piles in each direction on Saturday when I was in G-town.
Why no Metro updates? Will they be up to normal capacity tomorrow? Have they finally got the trains out of the rail yards?

Yes - and though there are three inbound lanes open, the idiots didn't think to make it, you know, two-way for a while. Grrr. Bitter from being stuck on 34th St. for an hour.
