Inner loop closures for bridge work
All lanes of the inner loop of the Capital Beltway will be closed overnight at the Springfield Interchange in Virginia this week while crews install steel beams for a bridge that will connect HOV lanes from Interstate 95 to the Beltway.
The lane closures were scheduled from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday night, the Virginia Department of Transportation said. This is the first week of nightly closures in this area, which are expected to occur weeknights until mid-April. The work is part of the Capital Beltway High Occupancy Toll Lanes Project.
Motorists will be detoured from the Inner Loop, Interstate 495 west to Exit 170B onto Interstate 395 north and take Exit 2B, Edsall Road west. Follow the ramp around to I-395 south to Exit 1C back to the Inner Loop, I-495 north/west. Motorists traveling to Springfield via Exit 169B/A will follow the same detour but use Exit 1B to access Franconia Road/Springfield.
