Breaks could cause commute problems
Update, 2:40 a.m.
Repair work to two water-main breaks in Crystal City likely will snarl the Wednesday morning rush hour, Arlington County officials warn. They advise commuters to seek alternative routes and avoid the area.
Crews worked for hours late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning to repair the breaks in the 2600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway and at Jefferson Davis and South 23rd Street. The road is one of Arlington's busiest corridors.
Traffic is being detoured in Arlington as workers try to find the precise location of two water-main breaks -- in the 2600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway and at Jefferson Davis and South 23rd Street. The detours are lasting about a mile along the road, one of Arlington's most heavily traveled corridors.
The water is still flowing, and officials said repairs could take hours once they start, raising the possibility of problems with the morning commute.
