New York Avenue reopens
3:30 p.m. Update: New York Avenue eastbound has reopened and traffic patterns appear to be returning to normal.
3:48 p.m. Update: The Post's Paul Duggan reports that a school bus with a driver and aide aboard and an SUV with two people collided in the 1600 block of New York Avenue NE. Some of the parties suffered minor injuries, but no one was transported to a hospital. Emergency crews report that the scene is being cleared, and outbound New York Avenue is expected to reopen soon.
3:44 p.m. Update: Traffic cameras show massive delays beginning to build on New York Avenue, imperiling the afternoon commute for motorists traveling out of the city to communities in the eastern part of the region.
U.S. 1 seems to be an attractive option at this point, showing moderate traffic flow.
Original post: New York Ave. NE is closed eastbound at Montana Ave. because of a bus accident. According to DDOTDC's latest tweets, a school bus was involved, but no students were aboard the bus.
