K St. NW reopens; expect delays

6:15 P.M. UPDATE: K Street NW has reopened. Expect some residual delays as traffic begins to return to normal in the area.

5:30 P.M. UPDATE: Traffic cameras show that parts of K Street NW are a mass of gridlock, especially at 16th. According to traffic reports, Pepco is working on underground utilities through a manhole. Traffic is backed up, and L Street NW is also jammed as motorists try to escape K Street.

Original post: The District Department of Tranportation reports that eastbound K Street NW is closed in the 1700 block due to fire activity. Expect traffic delays in the area.
