I-495 North congestion
It's going to be a wet morning and a wet day. Expect potential delays stemming from this during your treks to and from work. Here's a roundup of some of the commuting issues facing you this morning:
9 A.M. UPDATE:
-- MARC Brunswick Line train 880 is moving again, running between 45 and 60 minutes late. Metro will honor MARC tickets.
-- An accident on I-95 North just past Power Mill Road will slow traffic, so be wary.
-- Congestion remains bad on I-495 North at I-66.
-- A disabled vehicle has closed the north left center lane of I-95 North at U.S. 1 (passing by Alexandria).
8:25 A.M. UPDATE:
-- MARC Brunswick Line train 880 is disabled at the Point of Rocks station with a mechanical problem. Folks who would normally ride this train should take the Metro from the Shady Grove station into the District, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.
8:20 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident at 20th and C streets in Northeast could cause congestion, so avoid that area.
-- There's also an accident at the Chevy Chase Parkway and Military Road in Northwest.
-- Police and fire activity on 17th and I (Eye) streets in Northwest could cause traffic headaches.
-- One of the shoulders is closed on I-495 Inner Loop east of New Hampshire Avenue due to a medical emergency involving a single car.
-- Congestion is heavy on I-66 East at Nutley Street and inside the Beltway at N. George Mason Drive. There's also I-66 West congestion at Sycamore Street.
-- I-495 North at I-66 is getting very congested, so expect delays.
7:55 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident on I-495 North at the Georgetown Pike is blocking the right shoulder.
-- A tractor-trailer accident is blocking the right shoulder of I-66 East at Nutley Street.
-- There's an accident on 9th Street and Maine Avenue in Southwest, so be wary of delays.
7:35 A.M. UPDATE:
-- Congestion is building heavily on I-495 North at Gallows Road.
-- There's also heavy traffic on I-95 North just before the Springfield Interchange, owing to the earlier lane closure.
-- An accident on the 600 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest is blocking up traffic.
-- An accident on the 4200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue in Southwest is also blocking up traffic.
7:15 A.M. UPDATE:
-- An accident at North Capitol Street and Florida Avenue in Northeast might slow traffic, so avoid that area.
-- There's major traffic on I-66 East at Sudley Road and also on I-66 East at Nutley Street.
-- The south right shoulder remains closed on I-495 South at the G.W. Parkway, just south of the American Legion Bridge.
6:55 A.M. UPDATE:
-- A disabled vehicle on I-395 North at King Street is blocking the north right shoulder.
-- The left shoulder of I-66 East at Lee Jackson Highway remains closed.
6:35 A.M. UPDATE:
-- On I-95 North just shy of the Springfield Interchange, an accident has closed one H.O.V. lane/one reversible lane.
-- Police and fire activity on the 1700 block of Montello Avenue in Northeast, so avoid that area.
-- On I-66 East at Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, a multi-vehicle accident has closed the east right shoulder.
-- The Red Line delays have cleared up.
6:30 A.M. UPDATE:
A pair of updates for MARC riders.
-- Muikirk riders need to be on the southbound platform (heading towards the District) before their trains arrive; you will not be able to board after the train arrives because crosswalks will be blocked.
-- Penn Line train 400 heading to Baltimore is running 15 minutes late.
6:25 A.M. UPDATE:
-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-495 South at G.W. Parkway, but it's been moved to the south right shoulder.
-- There's congestion on I-395 North at Seminary Road and Duke Street, with traffic building up quickly.

-- There's Red Line delays between Bethesda and Friendship Heights heading towards Glenmont, due to an earlier situation at Bethesda.
-- Congestion is building up on I-66 East at Sudley Road and also at Chain Bridge Road.
-- Police and fire activity on the 1700 block of 20th Street in Northwest.
