MARC issues and VRE delays

The rain continues this morning, which will be sure to kick off the week with a slower morning rush hour commute. Here are some of the delays and issues this morning.

9:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Heavy traffic remains on I-66 West at Sycamore Street and I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge. And I-495 North leading to I-66 is still very, very slow.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-395 South shortly after the 14th Street Bridge is on the shoulder, but it could cause some delays.

8:40 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Traffic is still backed up on I-66 West at Sycamore Street.

-- There's also heavy traffic on I-66 East at N. George Mason Drive.

8:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-495 South at Braddock Road has blocked the right shoulder and might cause delays.

-- I-495 North is terribly congested leading to I-66.

-- The traffic on I-395 North (at the 14th Street Bridge) remains heavy.

7:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's heavy traffic on I-66 West at Sycamore Street.

-- Traffic remains solid on I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge, on I-495 North at Gallows Road and on I-66 East at Nutley Street.

7:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's big traffic on I-66 East at Nutley Street.

-- Traffic is also pretty backed up on I-395 North from the 14th Street Bridge back to King Street.

-- The traffic on I-495 North is still very backed up at Gallows Road.

7:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-495 North at the Little River Turnpike is on the shoulder, but there's still the potential for delays.

-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-495 South at the Little River Turnpike, also on the shoulder and it could also cause delays.

-- Traffic is heavily backed up on I-66 East at Nutley Street.

-- Traffic is also backed up on I-495 North from Gallows Road.

6:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-95/Outer Loop before U.S. 1 in Prince George's.

-- Traffic is getting heavy on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road.

-- Traffic is also getting heavy on I-395 North from King Street back to the Springfield Interchange.

-- An alert for VRE riders taking the Fredericksburg Line -- speed restrictions are in place for that line due to flash flood warnings. Delays of up to 30 minutes can be expected.

-- And VRE riders taking the Manassas Line, there are speed restrictions are in effect from Alexandria to L'Enfant, so expect delays there as well.

6:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Camden Line train 847 will run one car short today.

There are a pair of MARC issues to start the day:

-- Owing to the continuing rain, the rear parking lot at the Laurel station will be closed today. The Maryland Transit Administration reports that there probably won't be parking left at the Laurel station after the train 845 departs at 6:49 a.m., and commuters are encouraged to drive to the Murikirk or Savage stations.

-- Camden Line train 843 is going to leave the Camden Station about 12 to 15 minutes late due to mechanical problems.
