I-95 North backed up

Here's a roundup of issues facing commuters this morning...


-- The 2100 block of O Street in Northwest has fire and emergency activity, so it might be blocked up for a while.

-- There's a disabled car in the road on I-270 South at I-370.

-- Traffic is still backed up at I-95 North before the Springfield Interchange, though it's not as bad as it was before.

-- A water main break at South Capitol Street southbound at Martin Luther King Avenue has closed the second lane from the left.

8:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-270 North before MD 28 has closed two northbound lanes and one of the shoulders.

-- I-395 North -- still pretty bad.

-- On I-95 North/the Beltway at Telegraph Road, a disabled car is on the shoulder but could cause some delays.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- All lanes have reopened on Connecticut Avenue at Adams Drive.

-- The Soussa Bridge lanes have reopened.

-- Congestion remains packed on I-66 East and I-395 North.

-- There's also traffic on I-495 North at Gallows Road.

8:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- MARC Brunswick Line train 878 is running 33 minutes late, followed by train 880. Metro will honor MARC tickets at Shady Grove heading into the District.

-- Another MARC train issue: Camden Line trains are running about 15 to 20 minutes late because of a signal problem between Laurel and Muikirk.

-- The two right lanes of the Sousa Bridge inbound are blocked by a disabled car.

-- There's also a disabled vehicle on the Key Bridge inbound, but it's unclear if it's blocking any lanes.

-- An accident on the Douglass Bridge heading south is slowing down traffic and potentially blocking lanes.

-- Traffic is significantly backed up on I-95 North leading to the Springfield Interchange.

7:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on Connecticut Avenue/MD 185 South at Adams Drive has closed one southbound lane and one southbound shoulder.

-- The entrance escalators aren't working at the Foggy Bottom Metro station.

-- Congestion remains on I-395 North for much of the roadway.

-- I-66 East is very backed up at the Beltway.

7:25 A.M. UPDATE:
MARC Brunswick Line Train 878 is leaving the Brunswick Station about 25 to 30 minutes late due to mechanical problems. Metro will honor tickets.

7:20 A.M. UPDATE:
MARC Brunswick Line train 878 is having mechanical problems at the Brunswick Station, and is delayed for an unspecified period of time. More information as we get it.

7:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A disabled car on the Anacostia Freeway heading north at Kenilworth Avenue in Northeast is going to cause some headaches.

-- An accident on I-395 North at Seminary Road might cause some delays.

-- An accident on I-395 South at Duke Street has closed the right lane and right shoulder.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's big traffic on I-66 East at N. George Mason Drive.

-- Congestion is still evident and slow on I-395 North from Seminary Road and Duke Street on back to the Springfield Interchange. It's also sluggish at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- Traffic is backed up for a few miles on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-95 North shortly before the Springfield Interchange has closed the left shoulder and could cause some delays.

-- An accident on I-395 North at Seminary Road is causing some slowness in an area where there was already congestion.

-- An accident on I-395 South at Duke Street has closed the right shoulder.

-- Traffic is already backed up on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road.


-- There's debris in the road on U.S. 50 West to the west of Crain Highway, so be wary if you're heading through there.

-- The earlier accident on I-495 South at 267, now it's just the left shoulder closed.

-- Traffic is already slowing on I-395 North at Duke Street and Seminary Road.

-- On I-495 South at Dulles Toll Road/267, an accident has closed the left shoulder and left lane.

-- MARC Brunswick Line train 876 (leaving the Brunswick Station at 6:33 a.m.) will be running with one fewer car today.
